HDFC Pension: More than a Decade of NPS Excellence

Mr. Sumit Bose joined HDFC Pension as an Independent Director on August 12, 2020. He holds a degree of Master of Science in Social Policy and Planning in developing countries from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, UK. He also holds a masters’ degree in Arts (History) from University of Delhi. He was a member of Expenditure Management Commission set up to review the allocative and operational efficiencies of Government expenditure to achieve maximum output. He was also the Union Finance Secretary and Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Mr Ranjan Mathai joined HDFC Pension as an Independent Director on June 30, 2021. He worked in Government of India as a member of the Indian Foreign Service from 1974 to 2013. He has completed his Masters in Arts from the University of Poona. He has experience in diplomacy, administration and research. He was previously appointed as the Foreign Secretary of the Government of India for two years in 2011.

Mr. Prakash Kandpal joined HDFC Pension as an Independent Director on April 17, 2024. He holds a Masters in Financial Management & M.A. (Economics). He was also alumnus of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai University and Kumaon University, Nainital (Almora campus). He has varied experience of over 36 years with State Bank of India and its subsidiaries, gaining diverse experience in Banking, Insurance and Mutual Fund industries. He has been Deputy Managing Director for the retail business at State bank of India. He was also MD & CEO of SBI General Insurance, Nominee Director at SBI Foundation & PSB Alliance.

Mr M D Ranganath joined HDFC Pension as an Independent Director on July 10, 2024. Mr. Ranganath has over 33 years of experience in the Global IT services and financial services industry. He is currently Chairman of Catamaran Ventures. He was Chief Financial Officer of Infosys Limited, a globally listed corporation, till November 2018. Mr. Ranganath is an independent director on the board of HDFC Bank and chairs its audit committee. He is on the board of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He is a member of CII corporate governance council and GIFT city’s advisory committee on funds management. During his two-decade long tenure at Infosys, he was an integral part of the growth and transformation of Infosys and effectively played leadership roles in a wide spectrum of areas Strategy, Finance, M&A, Consulting, Risk Management and Corporate Planning. Prior to Infosys, he worked at ICICI Limited in leadership role. In the years 2017 and 2018, he was the recipient of the Best CFO Asia award in the technology sector, by Institutional Investor publication. Mr. Ranganath is a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad. He holds MTech degree from IIT Madras and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Mysore. He is a member of CPA, Australia.

Ms. Vibha Padalkar has been associated with HDFC Life since August 2008. She qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales in 1992 and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.Prior to her appointment at HDFC Life, she has worked in varied sectors such as global Business Process Management, global FMCG and in an international audit firm.
Over the years, Vibha has received various awards from organisations such as The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, The Economic Times and IMA India, along with being recognised as one of the ‘Top 30 most powerful women in business’ by Business Today.

Mr Niraj Shah has been appointed as Non – Executive Director on the Board of the Company. He has been associated with HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited (‘Sponsor Company/ ‘Holding Company’) since February 2019. He has over 24 years of experience in financial services, primarily in life insurance, corporate finance advisory and audit. Prior to joining HDFC Life, he was associated with PNB MetLife, ICICI Prudential Life, EY and BNP Paribas. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since 1997.

Mr Vineet Arora has been appointed as Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Company. He has been associated with HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited (‘Sponsor’/ ’Holding’ Company) since November 2022. He brings over 26 years of rich & diverse experience across industries like FMCG, consumer durables, banking, wealth management, life & general insurance where he was instrumental in scaling up and leading the businesses. Prior to joining HDFC Life, Vineet was associated with Paytm Payment Bank, Paytm General Insurance, Aegon Life Insurance, ICICI Securities, ICICI Prudential, Godrej and Marico. He holds a Post Graduate Degree in Finance & Marketing from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi college of Engineering.
